BRIEF
Julius Zöllner, the renowned German baby mattress experts, knocked our door to create a new brand that would revolutionize the dog bed market. Identifying a void in both quality and design, Balkis was sought out to provide not only top-tier comfort for dogs but also a seamlessly stylish addition to any home.
O&R STRATEGY
The project unfolded as a 360-degree initiative, covering every aspect of brand creation, including naming, identity design, messaging, packaging, art direction, website design and the photo production by our talented ally photographer Victoria Muñoz.
CULTURAL INSPIRATION
Knowing the product was such good quality and dogs would enjoy it so much we were immediatley drawn to the imagery of Queen Sheeba, named Balkis, famously known for her regal repose. We planned out a playful brand that would differ from the typical poorly designed and low-quality dog beds. We combined a vibrant color palette with playful patterns, reflecting the joy and liveliness of canine companionship.
TONE OF VOICE
Understanding the importance of connecting with the target audience, we incorporated messages related to the canine world into its collateral materials, this approach added a layer of relatability and charm to the brand.
AIMING FOR A FUN BRAND WITH COLORS AND PATTERNS
The limited color palette in print colateral was extended in the digital world making reference to Germany, where the products are manufactured. We designed patterns inspired from the materials that create the mattresses and worked in all possible deliverables, from packaging to social media playing with the different elements across the items.
A SPECIAL PHOTO PRODUCTION DAY
We had one day to produce all the lifestyle photography, due to clients restrictions. Working hand in hand with ©Victoria Muñoz, art directing the shoot before hand and a meticulous casting was key to our success.

E-COMMERCE DESIGN
For the e-commerce site our client opted for a Shopify-exclusive site (to keep both business centralized in the same platform). Using an existing template, we fine-tuned it for top-notch user interaction and to ensure a consistent brand presence across the web making the products as attractive as possible.
